President, Clinical Director, Audiologist

Dr. Angelica O’Boyle is a licensed dispensing audiologist, clinical director, and owner of Hearing Associates, Inc. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, and balance disorders. Her clinical approach combines advanced diagnostic care, evidence-based treatment, and a deep personal understanding of what it means to live with hearing challenges.

Dr. O’Boyle earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from the Osborne College of Audiology at Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. She graduated at the top of her doctoral class and received the prestigious George S. Osborne Award for Outstanding Scholarship. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and is a member of the American Tinnitus Association.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. O’Boyle is committed to education and mentorship. She recently joined the faculty of the Doctor of Audiology program at California State University, Northridge, and regularly mentors doctoral audiology students during their clinical rotations. Patients may often see a student working alongside her as part of this commitment to training the next generation of audiologists.

A Personal Calling to Audiology

Dr. O’Boyle’s passion for audiology began with her own experience as a child with hearing loss. She developed a unique type of hearing loss known as fluctuating reverse-slope hearing loss and had significant difficulty adapting to hearing aids. She also experienced tinnitus that went untreated for years.

Because of these experiences, Dr. O’Boyle understands that hearing care is not only about test results or devices. It is about communication, confidence, safety, relationships, and quality of life. Her personal journey helped shape her commitment to compassionate, whole-person care for patients and families navigating hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance concerns.

From a young age, Dr. O’Boyle felt called to help others. Through Girl Scouts, school, and community service, she discovered the fulfillment that came from supporting people in meaningful ways. In high school, she was selected to participate in a Girl Scout Wider Opportunity, where she learned about medical careers and met professionals in healthcare, including audiologists. The idea of helping someone discover, or rediscover, the world of hearing resonated deeply with her. From that point forward, she began working toward becoming an audiologist.

She later earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting, by completing a service project designed to make a positive impact in the community. She also received several academic and service honors, including the Marine Corps’ Superior Achievement in Youth Excellence Award, as well as outstanding citizen awards from the Elks and Knights of Columbus for community service.

Education and Early Training

Dr. O’Boyle graduated with honors from Marywood University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a concentration in Deaf Studies. Her experience with the Deaf community gave her an important perspective on communication, accessibility, and the diverse ways people experience hearing and identity.

At Marywood, she was also active in campus leadership and service. She joined a university sorority focused on women from diverse backgrounds uniting in service and was later elected vice president.

Dr. O’Boyle chose to pursue her doctorate through a program that emphasized compassionate, whole-person care, innovative clinical training, and evidence-based practice. She attended the residential Doctor of Audiology program at what became the Osborne College of Audiology at Salus University. The program emphasized interdisciplinary healthcare, early clinical experience, and extensive clinical externships.

During her doctoral training, Dr. O’Boyle gained experience in a wide range of multidisciplinary medical and clinical settings, including Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and the Pennsylvania Ear Institute. She received hands-on training in advanced hearing and balance testing and treatment. She also worked with Bromedicon Intra-operative Neuro-Monitoring Company, where she assisted surgical teams by monitoring nerve impulses during procedures in the operating room.

She completed her doctoral externship at Princeton Eye & Ear and the University Medical Center of Princeton. While at Salus University, she received the Certificate of Academic Excellence for Outstanding Grand Rounds Presentation and was elected treasurer of the local chapter of the National Association of Future Doctors of Audiology, an organization dedicated to community service and education about hearing and balance.

In 2009, Dr. O’Boyle graduated at the top of her class with her Doctor of Audiology degree.

Clinical Experience and Specialty Care

After graduation, Dr. O’Boyle joined Princeton Eye & Ear as a clinician and later became manager of the audiology department. She was also responsible for managing audiology services at the University Medical Center of Princeton.

In this role, she worked closely with otolaryngologists and other medical specialists, gaining extensive experience with complex ear disorders, advanced diagnostic testing, and multidisciplinary treatment planning. She also had access to a broad medical network that included ophthalmologists specializing in cornea and retina care, as well as other specialists within the University Medical Center of Princeton system.

Dr. O’Boyle coordinated the newborn hearing screening follow-up program at the University Medical Center of Princeton, helping identify infants with hearing loss and assisting families in accessing appropriate resources and care. She also helped develop a “Dizzy Program” as part of a multidisciplinary team that included physicians, neurologists, otolaryngologists, cardiologists, physical therapists, administrators, and other healthcare providers. The goal of the program was to help patients with dizziness and balance concerns access the most appropriate care more quickly, based on their medical history and symptoms.

She also provided education to doctoral fellows during their otolaryngology clinical rotations and has continued to precept audiology students from many programs. Through this work, she helps students translate classroom knowledge into skilled, compassionate, hands-on patient care.

Dr. O’Boyle eventually joined Hearing Associates, Inc. to learn from an established practice known for patient service and community trust. After years of working closely with the existing team, she became the sole owner of the practice. She now hand-picks and thoroughly trains her providers and support staff so the care patients receive reflects the values, quality, and compassion she believes every patient deserves.

Hearing Rehabilitation, Tinnitus, Balance, and Ear Care

Dr. O’Boyle created the A.M.P. Therapy program to help patients adapt more comfortably and successfully to hearing technology. The program grew from her personal experience with hearing loss and hearing aids, her clinical expertise, and her commitment to best practices in evidence-based hearing care.

A.M.P. Therapy is designed to support patients beyond the hearing aid fitting itself. It helps patients understand their hearing, adjust to new sound, build confidence with technology, and reconnect with the people and environments that matter most to them.

Dr. O’Boyle also provides comprehensive diagnostic care for patients experiencing dizziness and balance concerns related to the ear. She is one of the few audiologists in the San Fernando Valley offering a full diagnostic battery for vestibular and balance disorders. She has years of experience providing in-office treatment for positional vertigo and helping patients better understand the possible ear-related causes of dizziness.

In addition, Dr. O’Boyle offers customized tinnitus evaluations and treatment programs. Her approach recognizes that tinnitus can affect concentration, sleep, emotional well-being, and quality of life. Treatment is personalized to each patient’s needs, history, and goals.

She has also received advanced training in cerumen management, or earwax removal, and uses a variety of techniques to safely clean the ears when appropriate.

Teaching, Mentorship, and Community Service

Dr. O’Boyle is deeply committed to growing the knowledge of those around her, including patients, families, students, and fellow professionals. She has presented educational seminars on hearing, hearing aids, tinnitus, balance, dizziness, and disorders of the ear for community organizations, nursing homes, senior groups, and medical professionals.

She has also been invited to write articles on audiology-related topics for several publications, including the Medical Rounds column in The Hamiltonian, a New Jersey newspaper.

In 2021, Dr. O’Boyle teamed with the California State University, Northridge chapter of the Student Academy of Audiology to request that Councilmember John Lee declare May as Better Hearing Month in the City of Los Angeles. She has also participated in community hearing screenings, senior health fairs, state officer medical screenings, and Special Olympics Young Athletes health screenings.

Dr. O’Boyle was also nominated and elected to join the Board of Directors for Valley InterCommunity Council, an organization committed to enriching the lives of the diverse community it serves.

Life Outside the Clinic

Outside of audiology, Dr. O’Boyle enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, mountain biking, photography, music, glass art, and playing piano. Her service dog, Chunk, joins the office team a few days a week. He enjoys meeting new people and can be requested to join a visit.

Dr. O’Boyle has also been involved in music and the arts. She participated in the creation of a Pennsylvania-based band, The Sugarpills, helping create and perform musical parts for recordings and live performances. She also provided photography services and created artwork for the band’s first two albums, EP, and related print and digital materials. She enjoys working with glass and has created glass sculptures at the Corning Museum of Glass workshop.

At the center of Dr. O’Boyle’s work is the belief that better hearing care can change lives. Whether she is helping a patient hear more clearly, manage tinnitus, recover from dizziness, safely remove earwax, or adjust to hearing technology, her goal is to help each person feel heard, understood, and supported.
