Angelica O’Boyle, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA

President, Clinical Director, Audiologist

Dr. Angelica O’Boyle is a licensed Dispensing Audiologist and holds her doctoral degree from Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. She earned the prestigious George S. Osborne Award for Outstanding Scholarship when she graduated at the top of her doctoral class. Dr. O’Boyle holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and member of the American Tinnitus Association. You will usually see a student working with Dr. O’Boyle as she volunteers her time to guiding audiology students during their doctoral clinical rotations. Dr. O’Boyle recently joined the faculty for the Audiology Doctorate program at the California State University in Northridge. She has also been invited to present and write articles on Audiological topics for medical and community organizations. She was nominated and elected to join the Board of Directors for Valley InterCommunity Council. Their mission is a commitment to action to provide enrichment of the lives of our diverse community.

Dr. O’Boyle has always had a calling for helping others. Having been diagnosed with hearing loss as a child and experiencing significant difficulties adapting to hearing aids, has helped motivate her passion to improve the lives of others with hearing loss. She has been helping patients of all backgrounds for years in a diverse array of clinical settings and is well-versed in many specialty areas of audiology. She has built a model of compassionate service based on best practices. She has experience working with patients of all ages, but specializes in older children to geriatrics. 

Dr. O’Boyle specializes in the evaluation and treatment of hearing, balance, and tinnitus disorders. She is one of the few Audiologists in the San Fernando Area providing a comprehensive diagnostic battery for patients suffering from dizziness and balance issues related to the ear. She provides her personalized A.M.P. Therapy program to assist patients in comfortably adapting to their hearing device technologies. She also offers her custom multi-faceted approach for tinnitus evaluations and treatment programs. She has received additional training, by experts in cerumen management (earwax removal) and specializes in a variety of techniques to safely clean the ears.

Dr. O’Boyle experienced many issues with her ears and developed hearing loss as a child. Having a unique type of hearing loss, called a fluctuating reverse slope hearing loss, she had significant difficulty managing her hearing loss with hearing aids. She also has tinnitus, which went untreated for years. Due to her hearing loss and tinnitus, she faced many different types of obstacles. As a young child in Girl Scouts, she participated in many volunteer opportunities in school and the community where she discovered happiness in helping others. In high school, she applied to, and was chosen to participate in a “Girl Scout Wider Opportunity”.  There, she was able to learn about and meet medical professionals, including Audiologists. The prospect of helping someone like herself discover, or rediscover, the world of hearing attracted her and at that moment, she started working toward becoming an audiologist. She went on to earn her Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest achievable honor in the organization, by completing a project to make the world a better place. She has additionally earned academic excellence awards such as the Marine Corp’s superior achievement in youth excellence. She has also received service awards including the Elk’s and Knights of Columbus’ outstanding citizens awards for community service. 

She graduated, with honors, from Marywood University earning her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a concentration in Deaf Studies in 2005. Her experience with the Deaf community allows her a unique perspective to providing services to Deaf individuals. She also joined and was voted into the Vice Presidency of her University’s sorority, who’s mission focuses on woman from diverse backgrounds uniting with a commitment to service.

She sought to obtain her doctorate from a program offering that would prepare her as a provider of compassionate, whole-person, patient care using innovative techniques and integrative evidence based medicine. She chose the George Osborne College of Audiology, created by the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO), whom holds a legacy in the education of competent and compassionate doctors since 1919. PCO offered an online Audiology Doctorate bridge program for audiologists holding a masters degrees to obtain their doctorate. Dr. O’Boyle attended their new residential program who’s core curriculum emphasized an interdisciplinary approach to healthcare and valued early and extensive clinical externships as modeled by PCO. During her coursework, the educational program became the Osborne College of Audiology at Salus University. 

She had extensive clinical experiences in multidisciplinary settings throughout her coursework, including Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She gained hands on experience with cutting edge hearing and balance testing and treatment while at the Pennsylvania Ear Institute. She assisted in working with surgical teams to monitor nerve impulses during surgeries in the O.R. while placed with Bromedicon Intra-operative Neuro-Monitoring Company. She completed her doctoral externship year at Princeton Eye & Ear and the University Medical Center of Princeton (UMCPP). 

She was awarded the Certificate of Academic Excellence for Outstanding Grand Rounds Presentation by Salus University. She was also elected Treasurer of Salus’ local chapter of the National Association of Future Doctors of Audiology (NAFDA), who provided community services and education about hearing and balance.

In 2009, she graduated at the top of her class from the Osborne College of Audiology at Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania with her Doctorate in Audiology. After graduating, she joined Princeton Eye & Ear as a clinician and worked to become the manager their audiology department. She was responsible for managing the University Medical Center of Princeton (UMCPP)’s Audiology Department. She worked side by side with Otolaryngologists learning testing and treatments for complex ear disorders and was able to access a multi-disciplinary team of Othalmolotgists specializing in the cornea and retina, as well as specialists within the UMCPP network. She coordinated the UMCPP’s newborn hearing screening follow-up program and helped identify infants with hearing loss and assist families in accessing appropriate resources. She played a key role in developing a “Dizzy Program” when she was invited to join a team of UMCPP’s providers consisting of medical doctors, neurologists, otolaryngologists, cardiologists, physical therapists, administrators, and more. The team was tasked with creating a pathway to assist patients in accessing a fast track to the most appropriate care based on their medical history and symptoms, and ultimately to lead them through to an accurate and comprehensive treatment plan. She also provided education to doctoral fellows from UMCPP, during their otolaryngology clinical rotations. Dr. O’Boyle precepts students from many programs, guiding them in techniques to translate their classroom knowledge into hand-on patient care.

Dr. O’Boyle created a streamlined approach to implement her treatment process, so more patients could access her special method of assessing patient needs to create, and manage, treatment plans. She joined Hearing Associates Inc in order to learn from their established method of patient service and trust from the community. After years of working side by side with the existing team, she is now the sole owner of this private practice. After years of providing patient care, Dr. O’Boyle was finally able to create her A.M.P. Therapy program for Hearing Aid rehabilitation. She utilized her personal experiences with hearing loss and hearing aids, clinical knowledge and experience providing best practices of evidence-based medicine, and her expertise specializing in hearing technologies to create a streamlines program that has helped so many of her patients appreciate the world of hearing.

Dr. O’Boyle is not only a specialist for hearing and hearing rehabilitation, she also provides a comprehensive diagnostic battery for patients suffering from dizziness and balance issues related to the ear. She has years of experience providing in-office treatments for positional vertigo. She additionally offers a multi-faceted approach for tinnitus evaluations and customized treatment programs. 

She takes care to hand pick and thoroughly train her team of providers and support staff to implement care as an extension of herself. She deeply cares about growing the knowledge of those around her, from patients and their families to students working toward their Audiology doctorate. 

Dr. O’Boyle also participates in community and professional enrichment. In 2021, she successfully teamed with California’s State University, Northridge campus’ local chapter of Student Academy of Audiologists to request Congressman John Lee to declare May as Better Hearing Month in the City of Los Angeles. She has presented a number of seminars about audiologists, hearing, hearing aids, balance, and tinnitus to local organizations and nursing homes. She has been regularly invited to present on many topics of audiology and disorders of the ear for educational seminars for medical professionals. She has been invited to write articles relating to balance, tinnitus, and hearing aids for numerous publications including the Medical Rounds column in The Hamiltonian, a New Jersey newspaper. Additionally, she has participated in hearing screenings for community and senior health fairs, state officer medical screenings, and Special Olympics Young Athletes health screenings.

Aside from audiology, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, her family, mountain biking, photography, and dabbling on the piano. One of her dogs, Chunk, is a service animal and joins our office team a few days a week. He loves meeting new people and can be requested to join a visit. She also enjoys working with glass and has created glass sculptures at the Corning Museum of Glass workshop. Angelica participated in the creation of a Pennsylvania based band, The Sugarpills. She has helped create and perform musical parts for record albums and live performances, provided photography services, and created the artwork for their first 2 albums, EP, print and digital content.
